I purchased a classic red plaid wool jacket from Johnson Woolen Mill and can’t wait for the cold weather to wear it. I plan to use it mostly for hunting and ice fishing. I’m confident it’ll be warm and comfortable.

Great! Material is wonderful

This coat is fantastic. I bought the green plaid for rifle hunting and ice fishing and I used it this winter during the coldest months in northeastern Pennsylvania. It has replaced my normal ice fishing parka, and also multiple layers of cold weather hunting clothes. The cold, snow, freezing rain, nothing gets through this thing.
I'm 5'9" about 200 lbs, fit. I ordered a large because that's the size I wear and the size is true. I feel I could have gotten away with a size larger for cold weather specific use, as it is snug over a sweater/long johns, but fully functional. Being a true large also gives me the option of wearing it with normal clothes and not be too bulky. The wrist cuffs were a surprise, and the operation and positioning of the zipper hood made me skeptical of the practicality and function of both. However, once faced with the elements, it was apparent that Johnson has earned their years of design. I now appreciate every design aspect of this coat. You'll never need another cold weather coat. I'm a costumer for life!
I felt it was perfect for ice fishing and rifle hunting. Thank you Johnson for making and providing such quality. It's rare these days.
