VISIT JOHNSON

THE ORIGINAL JOHNSON WOOLEN MILLS FACTORY STORE & CONTEMPORARY RIVER'S EDGE MILL LODGING

Since 1842, Johnson Woolen Mills has stood at the center of this hardworking Vermont village, not just as a manufacturer but as a dedicated good neighbor. The mill has employed local families, anchored the community through every season of hardship and prosperity, and kept the craft of American wool-making alive right here on the Gihon River for nearly two centuries.

Today that commitment runs deeper than ever. The same hands that cut and stitch every piece in the factory store are restoring the historic mill buildings into lodging, and investing in Johnson itself. Not as a tourism project, but as a vote of confidence in the town. Walk the village and you will find locally owned cafes and restaurants, independent shops, and the renowned Vermont Studio Center gallery, our friends just across the river. What is good for Johnson is good for the mill, and the other way around. We are all part of the community fabric. Come see where it's made. Stay a while.

Explore the north country that shaped everything we build.

VISIT US AT OUR FACTORY STORE

COME SEE & FEEL
WHERE IT'S MADE

Step into the Johnson Woolen Mills factory store and you're stepping into two centuries of made-in-Vermont tradition. Browse the full line: classic wool trousers, the legendary Jac shirt, the new Merino Collection, and seasonal finds, all cut, stitched, and finished just steps from where you stand. Say hello to the resident sheep. Take home wool built to hand down.

This is more than a retail stop. It's living proof of what a community keeps when it holds onto something worth keeping, and the people who show up every day to make it. For everyone out there doing the work, because you deserve apparel that works as hard as you do.

For nearly two centuries, Johnson Woolen Mills has woven this town's identity into everything that leaves the building. Since 1842, it has been the place where Johnson's working families come to work, and where the craft we share with you and the world is made by hand, right here on the Gihon.

Under new family owned stewardship, the mill is investing in more than product. The restoration of the historic mill buildings, the development of on-campus lodging, the coming event space on the Gihon River, these are not tourism projects. They are commitments to neighbors, to real community, to belief in a rural way of life. They are jobs, gathering places, and reasons for people to stay in a town that deserves to thrive.

Everything happening here is in service of this place and the people in it. When you visit, shop, or stay at Johnson Woolen Mills, you are part of that too.
