Purchased in November of 24. Since then this shirt has gone through 2 seasons of hunting for me. It is and absolute staple in my hunting gear. Deer hunting, duck hunting and small game, this is the shirt I gravitate toward. It is extremely warm and the nap is perfect. Too often company’s go with a more felted finish. If it’s a heavier wool, sure, but a light shirt like this seems to benefit from the heavy nap in that it provides better thermal properties.
A few dislikes/preferences though. I did ditch the pockets this season. Took my time to remove them, as the were just too large for me, and because I am in between sizes the seemed to create a tension point across my chest. Once removed the fabric was able to give a bit more and relax for a better fit. Also, I prefer a button down collar as it seems like without, the collar is all over the place, especially when layering. So I added a few snaps to hold it in place. Biggest frustration? It will probably last a lifetime, which is great, but I want to buy another already!
For size reference, I am 6ft 190lbs and a slim build. I ordered the medium, felt like I was swimming in it. Ordered the small and it was a bit tight, but eventually broke in. For reference, when layering this is the second layer for me. Only thing I am wearing under is a light (150) to medium (250) weight wool Henley. Next layer is this shirt and then next layer on top is a heavy Filson sweater.
